【摘要】:Thispracticeenablesimagequalityevaluationonsamplesgeneratedbyvariousimagingsystems.Itcanbeusedtoconductinvestigations,includingimagereflectance,sharpness,voids,characterwidth,anddegradationofmaterials.Thetestinstrumentscanbeusedforresearchanddevelopmentprojectsaswellasformanufacturingcontrol.1.1Thispracticecoverstheuseofthereflectance-typeopticalcharactertesterswitha0.008-in.(0.203-mm)apertureastestinstrumentsformeasuringimagequality.1.2Althoughothersystemsmaybeavailable,thispracticecoverstwoofthemostcommonlyusedinstruments;theClearwave082OpticalCharacterTesterandtheMacbethPrintContrastMeter.1.3Theseinstrumentsalsohavethecapabilityofpredictingmachinereadabilityofdocuments.Thispracticedoesnotaddressthiscapability.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
